Thrift Store Picture Recycle, DIY

I bought the framed picture for $5 at a thrift store because I liked the frame and liked the fact that it was narrow, could fit in a few places..I wasn't sure how I was going to use it. 
I recently made this coffee filter pendant that is hanging above the stairs going to the basement.. Having a mirror there would reflect this light in a pretty dark space and make it feel a little more spacious.

I primed and painted the frame, in the same paint used for the wall.
 

Then I brought the frame to a local glass place, they placed the mirror in it for me...it was a few more dollars than the picture, but worth it-

Like Candice Olson interiors, elegant, sophisticated with a little bling factor, so are her wallpapers. I looked at some for a recent project of a small half bath.  This is one of a few books she has from the Dimensional Surfaces line which have textures of beads, threads or a hand painted feel to them.  I also looked at Inspired Elements for some metallics.  Although my client & I fell in love with some of these, the cost was a little out of the budget. For an 7' x 3' space the material was about $900, not installed. So I went back and found a similar look for 1/3 the cost. But it was nice to look...

Entry Stair Upgrade Before and After

 

My client wanted to update her entry with a fresh look. She has some beautiful antiques that were passed down to her she wanted to keep but wanted to add some contemporary elements for this young family. The entry floor was to remain, but we were able to refinished the wood to an almost ebony stain and added wall paper on one wall with a bold pattern as the backdrop to an antique mirror.
